Tamparan is a municipality in the province of Lanao del Sur.
According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 19,975 people in 2,879
households.
Tamparan is politically subdivided into 44 barangays.
The municipality has a clay loam soil type.
The climate is classified as Type IV which is characterized by more or less even
distribution of rainfall throughout the year. Dry season is observed during the
months from January to March and maximum rain period is from May to October.
Its economic base is farming and fishing. It is also known for the locally made
Maranao Malong. During the period of El Nino, farmers of the municipality were
greatly affected. Its economy also suffered a setback as a result of the military
and MILF armed conflict.
