Tubaran is a 4th class municipality in the province of Lanao del Sur. The total
area of the municipality of Tubaran is 6,535 has. that represents 1.69% of the
total land area of the province. It is located in the western part of the lake
Lanao. It is bounded on the north by the municipality of pagayawan, on the south
by the municipality of Malabang and in the eastern part by the municipality of
Pualas.
It has an elevation of 500 meters above sea level. It exhibits the characteristic
of a plain area appropriate for industrial and other related development.
The area with the slopes of the plain consists of irrigable lands that can be
used for agriculture purposes. Aside from agriculture, these areas are also
highly suitable for industrial and other related purposes.
The type of soil resources in this area ranges from silt and loam appropriate for
most of the basic crops.
One of the primary agricultural products found in the municipality of tubaran is
rice. This area is one of the primary soures of rice and corn of the province
because of its physical feature. Other crops produce in this areas includes:
coconut, vegetable, root crops, banana, plantation crops and fruit crops.
Agricultural farming in the major source of livelihood in this municipality. The
rest of the population is working either in the government service or in the
private institutions but majority of the constituent is marginal farmer.
Other important features of this town are the existing of rivers that can be
tapped for minihydro power and irrigation development.
According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 11,021 people in 1,680
households.
Tubaran is politically subdivided into 21 barangays.
This town exhibits type E climate that is characterized by an even
distribution of rainfall throughout the year with 120 inches average annual
rainfall, the wettest month having at least three times the rainfall of the
driest month. The heavest rainfall is from May to November.
